Be Humble before God
· Leviticus 26
40 ‘But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,
41 and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt—
42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember;I will remember the land.
43 The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes.
44 Yet for all that, when they
are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor
them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them;
for I am the LORD their God.
45 But for their sake I will
remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of
Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God:
I am the LORD.’”
46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws which the
LORD made between Himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand
of Moses.

· 1 Kings 8 46 “When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near; 47 yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of those who took them captive, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong, we have committed wickedness’; 48 and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name: 49 then hear in heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause, 50 and forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You; and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have compassion on them 51 (for they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Egypt, out of the iron furnace), 52 that Your eyes may be open to the supplication of Your servant and the supplication of Your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they call to You. 53 For You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your inheritance, as You spoke by Your servant Moses, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.” |
· 2 Chronicles 6 36 “When they sin against You (for there is
no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to
the enemy, and they take them captive to a land far or near; 37 yet
when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to
You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done
wrong, and have committed wickedness’; 38 and when they
return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of
their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their
land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and
toward the temple which I have built for Your name: 39 then hear
from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and
maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You. 40
Now, my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears be
attentive to the prayer made in this place. |

18 But as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, in this manner you shall speak to him, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “Concerning the words which you have heard— 19 because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the LORD. 20 “Surely, therefore, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place.”’” So they brought back word to the king. |

to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is

Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the
world produces death.
20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; 21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
