With respect to the Campions: There's a certain complexity in their dynamic, one we also saw in RP #3: Betsy's role is frequently to keep Campion from asserting his authority in unreasonable ways; he's the more impulsive one, while she's the voice of moderation. Giving him little, menial tasks like that is part of the mechanism. (Campion probably had in mind all of them doing the sweeping, or using some sort of blower/vacuum device!)

It might be noted as well that she's using a very sweet smile to persuade him to do the job...naturally it's probably the same sort of look she used to attract and disarm him during their courtship.

A reader asked of Cameron Derrick whether an eye transplant would help. Tilkrig/Drovine tech would definitely help him, but he doesn't want it. He considers it his prerogative to endure the condition. This is not a man of fully sound mind -- think Bruce Wayne.
